John and Wendy have been in Hemingby since they married 40 years ago. Before they settled, they spent two years living (in Percy the van) and working in the antipodes where they met a diverse range of people and experienced a wide variety of farming practices.

Once married, they gradually had their three children and settled into the way of life on the family farm in Lincolnshire.

Looking for ways to diversify, it made sense to invest in what they already had by means of farm workers’ cottages. It was in 2006 that ‘North and South Cottage’ were lovingly gutted, extended and renovated and the holiday accommodation business was born.

Whilst John continued to work and manage the agricultural side of the business, Wendy put her heart, soul and an enormous amount of time into building the holiday accommodation business, managing and running them to the highest standard. Over the years, the business has thrived and they have developed it further - there are now 4 thoughtfully redeveloped cottages taking in the derelict old farm buildings adjacent to North and South cottage.

Rebecca returned home in 2020 with the energy and drive to build her own creative business and as she settled back into country-life has also decided to join in the family business. “We have submitted plans to develop the Granary Barn which is super exciting; I know Mum & Dad don’t want any additional work but I’m keen to get stuck in, enable them to have some time off and hope to build on their success - the Barn will enable us to host large groups and I envisage pop-up events, workshops, retreats and weddings as well as being able to accommodate extended families and groups of friends for rural get-togethers building on what we already do.”
