City Square to be transformed into an urban beach resort this summer
How City Square could look as a beach.
A city square will be transformed into a stretch of sandy beach this summer thanks to Lincoln BIG.
The Business Improvement Group will be dumping 30 tonnes of sand in Lincoln's City Square as part of the Children and Young People's Festival.
It will be opening on August 16 and will stay in place until September 5 when the children go back to school.
Promotions manager at Lincoln BIG Michael Armstrong said: "It won't fill the whole square but it will be a good size beach that is mainly fro families and children to enjoy.
"It is quite quirky and it was just one of those ideas that we thought would be really popular.
"Hopefully it will bring people to that area of the city and will be an event that we can repeat in the future."
Lincoln BIG managed to secure European funding for the beach project which means it can carry on putting on events during the summer.
